Hey there! I'm Joel and thanks for checking out my page! Heres my attempt at writing in 1st person. I love writing (Usually in 3rd person) but there is always room for improvement ; please bare with me :)

Since I was a shy little kid, I would always observe, taking every little detail in.  This soon translated into storytelling. With the power of storytelling, or as my parents would call it, "putting on a show", I found a strong force, full of an infectious power that showed me the possibilites of what I can give to society. My childhood set a pathway for the vision and characters I wanted to share and experience within my lifetime; The shy human with a strong will that can stand up for whats right; while cracking you up along the way.

 

Along with my need to "put on  a show", I also could not stop jumping and flipping wherever I found the opportunity (mostly on the bed since it was bouncy); leaving a track of holes along the way - my poor parents; they're amazing. Truly. This led to my parents giving me the greatest opportunity to channel all of that energy into a sport. Football? Nah, Soccer? Eh. But Gymnastics...YES! Oh boy, I loved it. From the age of 8 to 17 I was a trained competitor for the Trampoline & Tumbling Division of USA Gymnastics. This training was a blessing, but as I grew in age , I learned another valuable tool it gave me as a budding storyteller:  a great discovery of trusting my body, how to translate it into a character's body language and the energy I can give back to another actor. (Plus a few summersaults thrown in if need be!)

After completion of high school I continued my passion and training as an actor. I trained for four years and completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University (TheatreVCU) with a degree in Acting. While training I took opportunities to explore my passion for camera acting; including 3 VCU Cinema productions as well as 2 Independent short films. The rawness of film and television led a new way of discovery and insight that I didn't get to piece together until my higher training began; allowing  my inner voice to finally shine! 

 

I currently reside in Los Angeles, CA continuing to embark on the dream I believe I was put on earth to do: Storytelling. The raw reality of the human soul is always out there waiting to be revealed for all to see. Along with collaboration and open arms, I hope to obtain that with anyone willing to take the journey with me.
